Introduction
Landing at Hong Kong International Airport (HKIA) with a car waiting means no taxi or bus queue: you drive straight to where you are going. This guide covers the drive itself — the routes into the city, tolls and parking, and a few tips for the first trip out of Chek Lap Kok.

1. Routes from the Airport

2. Tolls and Parking
- Tolls are not included in the fare. MTC cars have HKeToll, so you drive through toll plazas without stopping; tolls are taken from your deposit after the trip.
- Parking at your destination is extra too. MTC station carparks read the number plate at the barrier, so no Octopus card is needed there.
- Return at any MTC station or a metered street space. At a meter, pay for the maximum time the meter allows.
3. Tips for the Drive
- Verify before you fly: verification is done once in the app and is usually complete within 24 hours.
- Avoid rush hours: roughly 8–10 am and 5–7 pm on weekdays.
- Set navigation before you leave the carpark.
- Driving on a P licence? Keep to 70 km/h and out of the offside lane on expressways with three or more lanes. More on P-license car rental.
4. Returning Before Your Flight
- Return at Airport Carpark 4, then lock the car in the app and take a photo when prompted. Allow time to get from the carpark to your terminal.
- Or leave the car in the city at any MTC station or metered space and take the Airport Express.
